How Did we Arrive Here?
The Solid-ICT R&D team has been exploring possible AI solutions to the problems we face in our daily routines. While working on experimental proof-of-concept implementations, we discovered that machine learning algorithms were capable of solving almost every problem in our everyday lives. The endless potential for machine learning to improve the quality of almost every aspect was too significant to ignore.
We wanted to be realistic in taking on the vast machine learning field, while at the same time, casting our net as wide as possible and considering all the available opportunities. As a result, rather than spreading our resources thin and burning out early in our pursuit, we decided to create a foundation to support our future ideas and growth over time.
This is how the idea for Solid AI IoT was born.
What is Solid AI IoT?
Solid AI IoT is an edge computer small enough to fit in the palm of your hand, yet powerful enough to train and run machine learning algorithms in real-time.
You can either choose the powerful NVIDIA Jetson AGX Xavier mainboard or a standard mainboard with the Intel Movidius Neural Compute Stick 2 (this option provides flexibility to update your VPU power as per your project or business requirements).Both options come with a high-resolution camera and Linux OS, Solid AI Framework, and Solid AI Server already pre-installed.
There’s a saying amongst professional guitar players, “If you don’t know every note on the fretboard, then you’re only kidding yourself.” We believe this same saying can be applied to high-tech businesses who don’t know their hardware.
We know our hardware inside and out. Through our AI framework, we’ve crafted a modular computer that is powerful enough to perform server-equivalent computational work and small enough for everyday usage.
The New Era of Autonomous Machines
Autonomous machines are still in their infancy stage but exponentially growing in popularity. Although hardware limitations in the 60s and 70s caused a number of setbacks for AI, now in 2019, there’s enough computational power to run standalone AI on autonomous machines. These machines can act independently and learn over time from communicating with people and other machines. The two hardware giants making this possible are Nvidia and Intel.
We specifically designed Solid AI IoT and its programming interface for autonomous machines and solutions. For example, you can attach Solid AI IoT to a drone to conduct surveys, find objects, or detect defective goods on a production line. All in real-time.
Every Solid AI IoT model comes pre-installed with the Solid AI Framework. However, if you prefer to develop your own box and AI solution — don’t worry, we’ve got you covered. You can train your own custom machine learning models with your own custom dataset. Solid AI Framework supports ONNX natively, which means you have the option to use your own pre-trained models.
But autonomous machines have to be autonomous, right? You can’t tame a free soul. The real beauty of our product is its ability to work standalone without the need for API calls or cloud dependencies. Whatever happens in your private Solid AI IoT will stay there. Of course, you can still choose to use any cloud storage service to store your data or make API calls depending on your project.
In addition, Solid AI Boxes come with Solid AI Servers. If you plan to use multiple Solid AI Boxes for your project or want to connect and manage multiple Solid AI Boxes from remote clients, the Solid AI Server will help you achieve this.
With programming and hardware interfaces that are powerful and flexible, Solid AI IoT is ideal for both professionals who want to execute their big ideas and hobbyists looking to have fun.
The Next Step for Solid IoT
We are planing to design and develop two products on top of Solid IoT: Solid AI Security and Solid AI Connect.
In addition to everything included in the Solid IoT box, Solid AI Security comes with built-in voice recognition software and a mobile app for remote management. With its ability to detect, learn and recognise faces, emotions, and objects, Solid AI Security can be used for threat analysis, as an early warning system, or just for headcount and emotion detection. It can be trained through the mobile management app according to the user. Crafted with high-quality materials, its sleek design helps it blend in with your interior decor.
Solid AI Connect is an extension of Solid AI Security and can be used for communication purposes. It comes with built-in LCD monitors and an Android operating system.
